Here’s how it typically works:

1. Preparation: The child and parent will get a set of instructions on how to get prepared for a child sleep study test, which may include guidelines related to diet control, medications and child’s sleep routine before the start of test.

    

2. Arrival at the Sleep Center: The pediatric sleep test is usually conducted in a well-equipped sleep lab. The child will stay overnight with his/her guardian in a comfortable, home-like room.

    

3. Electrodes & Sensors: Sensors are attached to the child’s body to monitor brain activity (EEG), eye movements (EOG), muscle activity (EMG), heart rate (ECG), respiratory effort, airflow, and blood oxygen levels (pulse oximetry). These sensors are completely painless and can be detached easily after the completion of the pediatric sleep test. Also it is advised to not apply any type of cream or oil on a child’s body or hair area.

    

4. Recording Sleep: The child is observed overnight by a sleep technician while he/she is sleeping. The sensors record data for whole night, which is monitored by sleep technicians.

    

5. Analysis: The recorded data is analysed by a sleep specialist who interprets the results to identify the presence of any sleep disorder or problems.

    

6. Diagnosis and Treatment: Based on the results of your child’s sleep test ( child sleep test in Delhi NCR ), your child’s doctor will discuss the findings with the parents and recommend appropriate treatment or medication if any sleep disorder is diagnosed.
